Why is this important ?

We the organizers of this petition all work daily in storytelling and communications. We are journalists, media reformers, community organizers, communication strategists and concerned citizens who engage with our community and media everyday. We see the dialogue about problems in our country and in the world being deeply affected by corporate media consolidation and feel that this endangers the solutions that could flourish if we were informed by facts and had the ability to communicate effectively. We feel access to an open internet is crucial, and we must make it clear that it is of utmost importance that we exercise our right “to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

Joining us in this cause is not just about spending a couple moments to sign the petition. It is about THINKING about our WORLD. Think about the voices in our culture who are the loudest. Are they advancing our growth as a society? If you don’t think so then it is time for your voice to be heard on this issue of communication rights.
